There’s a project to “sink” Central Park

The winner of this year’s Skycraper Competition, by eVolo Magazine was the project made by Yitan Sun and Jianshi Wu. Their objective? To “sink” Central Park a hundred feet.

This project is based upon the idea that not every person in New York is able to enjoy the beauty of Central Park, a unique space of 1.3 square miles, in the heart of the City. They believe that, by digging down and revealing the mountain beadrock that is covered by the Park, not only it will accentuate the beauty of the park’s landscape, but it will also expand the natural areas in the city, since the project includes making green spaces in different points, out of the removed soil.
